Blogging Fail

I'm a fairly lazy person, therefore my blogging can be fairly erratic but when told post, post I shall. Things down here are going well. Even though at times I have felt the urge to throw my computer across the room in frustration, my internship is going well and it has provided my with the opportunity to yell at a Google man over the phone.

Since the last time I posted, I have been attending Spanish school and my four week term has ended. I my various classes, I learned how to discuss prostitutes, Hasidic Jews and other random subjects that I am unlikely to discuss here. Oh yeah, one day in class an iguana peed on my head. Apparently, it's good luck. I call bull.

Here are some pictures of cows roaming around on a football field and the street near my house:

Cute, aren't they.

In addition to the termination of my schooling, I have moved into a new apartment. I now have a view.
Here's a picture for Battle Royal fans.

I'm Here!!!

So... Costa Rica. I have an internship at Witch's Rock Surf Camp and I have been working there everyday since I got here. I'm not complaining, for one, it's interesting and everyone has been very nice.

The day I got here I decided to walk to the big grocery store that is a ways away. In order to not get hit by some crazy driver (every driver here is crazy) I had the brilliant idea to walk in the storm drain. Bad Idea.

My knee is still black and blue

Here are some pictures of my apartment. It's small and cute and way nicer than anything I would get for the price in New York.

The view from by bedroom through the kitchen and onto the patio.

My Fendi bath towel.

Bye Bye

I did not expect it to be as hard as it is to say goodbye to my friends in New York, especially my sister. I would not be the person I am today with out them and I owe them my gratitude. Goodbye and thank you.

The Big Decision

I haven't had a job in a while. Though I am fortunate enough to not have money issues, my life had become stagnant. My daily routine is the same everyday and the routine is boring.

My parents spent the winter in Tamarindo, a very touristy town in the Guanacaste province in Costa Rica. While they were there, I was fortunate enough to visit them twice. The first time I felt like I discovered paradise. There was cheap beer, great weather and the Pacific Ocean. Between trips, I though about where I was in life. I have no job and no dependants. There is nothing keeping me in New York. My second trip to Tamarindo, I found an apartment, made a deposit and started to plan.

I will be in Costa Rica for six months. This plan is not perfect. I will miss my friends, family and the summer movie season. The first of my goals is to become a better surfer. At the moment, after a few surf lessons and even fewer excursions by myself, I am still better at falling than I am at catching waves. Hopefully this will change. Goal number two is to learn Spanish. I do not expect to become fluent in six months but I expect to know more that what is necessary to order a meal. Lastly, I home to get out of the rut that I have been able to escape for the last few months.

Today was perfect. The temperature was warm, but not too warn for a jacket. It was sunny and just a touch of wind and in the evening I had to walk a bit faster due to the cold. This is what I will miss. On Sunday, April 26th, I will leave Brooklyn for the foreseeable future. For the last five years this has been my home. Though two of those years were spent in Manhattan, Brooklyn has always been my favorite borough.

From Brooklyn, I will go to New Hampshire and spend a few days with my parents and on May 2nd, I am bound for Costa Rica. Though some friends and family will visit, most will not and I will still miss the best summer movie season I can remember but every time I start to complain about this, I realize that I have my Skype phone number, email, facebook and the internet in general and every movie I will miss in theatres will be out on DVD by Christmas.
